A lifetime investment

Before being mentored by LEI, I had never really considered having a personal vision for my life and my family. I had also never really given much thought on how to grow. I had especially never considered how to grow as a mentor in order to help others grow for the glory of God. LEI has helped me be more focused on the direction that I’m leading my family and my own personal ministry to accomplish God’s purposes. I find that I am much more equipped to help others explore their own vision and growth. LEI has certainly given me a number of personal examples of what living out a Christian’s faith can look like in day to day life. Most importantly, LEI has fostered many warm and encouraging friendships with other followers of Christ.

I am beyond thankful to have had the opportunity to be mentored through Leadership Edge! I began meeting with Janet at a time when, though I had been a believer for some years, I struggled to believe God’s grace and love for me. It was through reading ‘The Cross Centered Life’ and many conversations with Janet about scripture that I came to a deeper understanding of the gospel. Through this process, I now also feel better equipped to share the good news of what Christ has done with those he has placed in my life. I could not be more thankful!

Leadership Edge Mentoring has provided a tangible vision statement for me to take hold of in everyday life. It provided a definition/model for what leadership is and the competencies to carry it out. I have found a community of accountability and encouragement via other alums at Gatherings. By far, the most significant is that l have personal, honest stories and reflections from LEI mentors on how God has taught them about how to be a Godly leader in their own families, marriages, churches, workplaces, and communities.

I fully believe the Lord’s hand was in the timing of me meeting my mentor, and my time being mentored by her was such a huge blessing my senior year of college. LEI introduced me to a woman who not only cared about me, but also cared that I knew I was loved and known by our heavenly Father. Although already walking with Christ, my time with my mentor, reading scripture on her back porch while sipping hot tea she had already so graciously prepared for me, was so special. LEI gave me a whole new understanding of what it meant to lead by God’s grace, as a woman, in my different spheres of influence that I will continue to be in, and will step into this next chapter of my life. I could not be more confident going forth to love others as Christ loves his church, and share the good news that I know to be so true for my life.
